In this video Doctor Andrea Furlan talks about the effects of menopause in the woman's body. There are symptoms and consequences of menopause. Symptoms are hot flashes, irritability, weight gain, insomnia and vaginal dryness. Consequences are silent changes that the woman will not notice, and they can be osteoporosis, changes in fat distribution, changes in the pain system, including the lower production of endorphins, and sarcopenia. Sarcopenia is loss of muscle mass and substitution of muscle by fat.
Hormonal replacement therapy (HRT) is not indicated to treat chronic pain in menopausal women. HRT is indicated when there are symptoms of menopause. There is no diet or vitamin to increase the production of estrogens.
