Reducing Osteoporosis Risk (would love to hear what you’re doing!)
Osteoporosis runs in my family. I’m curious to hear what you’ve all been doing to help reduce the risk. I’m in perimenopause and on HRT (which I understand can help to prevent bone loss)
I’ve also been trying to keep my diet pretty balanced, with a decent amount of protein every day (I started tracking and usually hit around 70g/day). I also started strength training a few times a week.
I’d love to hear what you’ve all been doing & any tips you have.
TIA!

Hi Tracey,
Good on you for prioritizing your health and taking steps to minimize your risk! Like you, I have a family history of osteoporosis and am also taking steps to keep my bones healthy. Sharing a new strategy I’m trying. A few months ago, I invested in a weighted vest. I use it during daily activities like walking my dog and for an extra boost while strength training.2 -
Thanks Barb
If you're open to sharing, I'd love to learn more about how you chose your weighted vest. I did some research online and there are so many options out there.

Hi Tracey,
Happy to share. I did quite a bit of research before buying mine. Most of what I read suggested starting with a vest ~ 5% to 10% of your body weight. I choose one that fit me snugly (mine has adjustable buckle straps in the front) but still allows me to move around comfortably. Hope this helps!
